Electroplating is a finishing process that utilises specialist electrodes to deposit a metal surface coating to a metal. A common electroplating process is zinc plating in order to provide a component with corrosion protection and durability.
Electroplating is generally a specialist service chosen for a specific purpose such as wear resistance (chrome), electrical condustivity (gold, silver, tin), reduced friction (chrome) and corrosion resitance (zinc). However, electroplating can also be applied for decorative purposes, such as antiquing and architectural styling where the colour of the finish is important.
Electroplating is more expensive than paint spraying and offers more specific benefits and most customers will generally know how they want to finish their components, but if you are not sure, JC Engineering will be happy to advise.
